President Bola Tinubu will on Saturday, July 20, depart Abuja for Accra, Ghana, to take part within the sixth Mid-12 months Coordination Assembly of the African Union (AU), the Regional Financial Communities (RECs), the Regional Mechanisms (RMs), and the African Union Member-States.
Based on an announcement by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, on Friday, in his capability because the chairman of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Authorities, President Tinubu will handle the assembly on the standing of regional integration throughout numerous areas in Africa, highlighting the achievements and challenges encountered in West Africa because the final assembly in Nairobi, Kenya, in July 2023.
He mentioned the President and chairman of ECOWAS will current the ‘2024 Report on the State of the Group’, specializing in peace, regional safety, governance, financial integration, humanitarian and social improvement, vitality, mines and agriculture.
The assembly can be convened below the AU theme of the 12 months 2024: ‘Educate and Talent Africa for the twenty first Century.’
The Mid-12 months Coordination Assembly was conceptualised in 2017 because the principal discussion board for the AU and the RECs to align their work and coordinate the implementation of the continental integration agenda, changing the June/July summits.
“In July 2023, President Tinubu, who was then elected because the Chairman of ECOWAS, delivered his maiden speech on the AU Fifth Mid-12 months Coordination Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya, the place he affirmed Africa’s power and the necessity for unity.
