President Bola Tinubu has resumed discussions with the Organised Labour, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Commerce Union Congress (TUC), on the Presidential Villa in Abuja, on Thursday.

This essential assembly goals to finalise the small print of the proposed new nationwide minimal wage.

The Labour delegation is led by NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, and TUC President, Comrade Festus Osifo. This follow-up session comes after final week’s discussions, the place President Tinubu emphasised the necessity for improved welfare, higher wages, and enhanced working situations for Nigerian staff. He reiterated his dedication to making sure that the brand new wage construction can be honest and helpful to all.

“Our staff deserve higher welfare, higher wages, and secure, enhanced working situations,” President Tinubu said in the course of the earlier assembly. He assured that his administration was diligently working in direction of a wage that might be acceptable to all stakeholders.

The Labour leaders have steadfastly maintained their demand for a N250,000 month-to-month minimal wage, contrasting with the federal authorities’s proposal of N62,000. This ongoing negotiation seeks to bridge the hole between the 2 positions.
