The nationwide protest in opposition to hardship and starvation within the nation slated for August 1 kickstarted on Thursday morning from the Ikeja Below-bridge, Lagos, with heavy presence of safety brokers accompanying the protesters.
The event comes amid earlier threats issued by some unknown individuals and traditionalists, warning residents in opposition to avenue protests in opposition to the administration of President Bola Tinubu over the prevailing financial state of affairs within the nation.
The Ikeja protesters are presently on the Allen Roundabout heading to the Alausa Secretatriat by the designated routes to the agreed rendezvous of the protest at Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota and the Freedom Park in Ketu areas of Lagos.
Whereas the state of affairs on the Lekki Tollgate appeared quiet as there was no presense of protesters on the bottom as on the time of this report, there was, nevertheless, heavy presence of armed safety brokers and armoured tanks stationed round either side of the Lekki Tollgate apparently in present of drive.
Thus far, there was a relative calm across the intellectual Ikoyi and the Victoria Island elements of the state.
In the meantime, one other group of pro-government protesters confirmed up on the Lagos State Authorities Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, in solidarity with the federal government.
