Nigerian Air Power plane deployed for operation Hadin Kai has destroyed a suspected Boko Haram terrorists Improvised Explosive Gadget (IED) manufacturing unit in Borno State.
An announcement by the NAF spokesman AVM Edward Gabkwet mentioned the strikes have been performed on August 2, 2024 concentrating on terrorists’ enclaves at Grazah, a location deep within the Mandara Hills.
He mentioned the airstrikes have been carried out after intelligence stories revealed the sighting of a potential IED manufacturing unit and storage space for different logistics.
He mentioned this IED manufacturing unit was suspected to have been relocated, first from Gwoza to Timbuktu Triangle in Sambisa Forest and at last berthing at Grazah within the Mandara Hills.
The frequent relocation of the IED manufacturing unit has been attributed to the big fireplace energy on terrorists’ enclaves by the mixed efforts of the whole safety equipment of Operation Hadin Kai.
Gabkwet mentioned the IED manufacturing unit location at Grazah had been underneath surveillance for weeks with varied installations noticed and actions of armed terrorists within the space discovered to be in line with these defending a strategic location.
He added that two gun vehicles have been additionally sighted tucked underneath a big tree close to the suspected IED manufacturing unit.
“These findings thus necessitated the necessity for an air strike on the situation as a way to destroy the suspected IED manufacturing unit and neutralize the terrorists. Consequently, the targets have been acquired and successfully destroyed’.
