A considerable variety of MTN subscribers in Nigeria have taken to X (previously Twitter) to specific frustration over the downtime on the telecommunications community amid the continuing nationwide hardship protests within the nation on Thursday.

MTN Nigeria’s community companies skilled a downtime, affecting each voice and information companies on Thursday, leaving subscribers with speculations that the event is likely to be consider to frustrate the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests, which is aimed toward drawing authorities’s consideration to the prevailing financial hardship confronted by residents.

As at press time, MTN was but to react to the event.

A social media consumer registered as Opeolu_waa reported the problems, saying, “Abruptly, MTN’s community is dangerous on the day of the deliberate protest; you individuals know what you’re doing.”

One other consumer, Sunnyjoflife tweeted, “Impulsively, MTN Community isn’t working correctly on the first of August. These individuals know what they’re doing. #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria #EndBadGovernanceProtest.”

Different customers, recognized as Oghenerie, OkekeMakuo1851, and Maxvayshia, shared related experiences, with some speculating that the community points is likely to be associated to the federal government’s efforts to handle communication throughout the protests.

Adegboruwa warned that any try to limit web connectivity can be perceived as an infringement on residents’ rights to free speech and meeting.
