The Bauchi Emirate Council has withdrawn the normal title of ‘Majidadin Bauchi’ from Senator Shehu Buba Umar for allegedly disrespecting and humiliating the governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed.

Senator Umar represents Bauchi South senatorial district within the Nationwide Meeting on the platform of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

A letter dated August 14, 2024 and addressed to Senator Umar signed by one Nasiru Musa on behalf of the Emirate Council secretary, stated the withdrawal of the normal title from the federal lawmaker adopted a gathering of the council on Wednesday chaired by the Emir of Bauchi, which deliberated on the Senator’s alleged misdemeanours and consequently resolved to derobe him as a conventional title holder of the emirate.

The Council particularly accused Senator Umar of disrespecting and humiliating the Bauchi State governor, actions it stated have been at variance with the teachings and tradition of Bauchi Emirate.

It may very well be recalled that the Bauchi South Senator had in a chat with journalists the earlier week accused Governor Bala Mohammed of short-changing the individuals of Bauchi State as regards some palliative objects despatched to the state by the APC-led federal authorities.

The Senator enumerated some palliatives equivalent to rice, corn and fertilizer despatched to the state by the federal authorities for the onward distribution to the individuals of the State to cushion the consequences of financial hardship, alleging that the objects have been offered out by the state authorities.
