The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has accused the State authorities of sponsoring #EndBadGovernance protesters to vandalise its state secretariat in Port Harcourt.
That is because the protesters on Tuesday pressured store homeowners and motorists inside Port Harcourt metropolis and its environs to mount leaves in entrance of their retailers or on their autos or threat not being allowed to maneuver round freely.
APC caretaker committee chairman within the state, Chief Tony Okocha, who spoke with journalists in Port Harcourt, stated those that vandalised the social gathering secretariat threatened to return again once more for one more assault.
Okocha: “In the present day, the problem in level is the vandalisation of the APC secretariat situate at 268B Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway by hoodlums, who have been organized, sponsored by a supply, which in the midst of this our engagement, I’ll reveal. I’ll identify the supply; we’re not scared to call the supply as a result of the scenario s turn into so political.
“And naturally, you ask your self; why is it that it’s the APC workplace that was focused for destruction? Tens of millions of these assaults is not going to cease reggae. It is not going to cease us from talking for the folks of Rivers State. It is not going to cease us from being diametrically against a governor and a authorities that’s clueless. It will probably’t.
“Our secretariat was attacked yesterday and so they left us with a observe that they’re coming again once more. We don’t know whether or not coming again once more shall be in the present day or in future. It was about 5:00pm yesterday that they vandalized our secretariat advanced. We pre-empted them as a result of we knew and we anticipated what they may do.
“We’ve got info that they’d been paid to destroy our social gathering secretariat. And who’s paying them? They’re being paid and sponsored by the federal government of Rivers State. Their curiosity, so far as we’re involved, is to make Rivers State the epicenter of the protest.”
However, in a swift response, the Rivers State authorities denied sponsoring protesters to assault the APC secretariat, saying that it was not within the character of the current administration within the State to embark on such ugly enterprise.
The state’s Commissioner for Data and Communications, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, said this on Tuesday in a chat with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Johnson stated: “It isn’t in our character; it isn’t in our bloodline to destroy different folks’s issues. The governor spoke to the protesters and Femi Falana, SAN, was a type of who counseled Governor Fubara for talking to the protesters and it turned to celebration. We wouldn’t have such tendency.”
