The performing director of Borno State Rural Electrification Board (REB), Engr Bukar Yerima, has revealed that 13 out of the 27 native authorities areas of the state aren’t provided electrical energy as a result of actions of Boko Haram terrorists and vandals who vandalised electrical installations within the affected areas.
Yerima made the revelation yesterday in Maiduguri whereas talking on the electrical energy provide within the state as a result of frequent vandalisation of transmission energy strains alongside the Maiduguri-Damaturu freeway by terrorists.
He mentioned that regardless of the worrisome state of affairs, the state authorities has rehabilitated over 100 energy transformers in varied communities within the state and urged members of the general public to guard electrical installations inside their communities to curb vandalisation of electrical energy services.
He mentioned that as a result of frequent vandalisation and destruction of the Maiduguri- Damaturu 33kv strains by the terrorists, the state authorities created room for dualisation of the Maiduguri- Damaturu energy strains, however mentioned that attributable to some inadequacy and challenges, the dualisation was not realised.
