A faction of the Rivers State Home of Meeting loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has filed an attraction on the Supreme Court docket to problem the Thursday’s judgement of the Court docket of Attraction, on the destiny of 25 members of the Home, who dumped the Peoples Democratic Celebration (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Edison Ehie, on December 12, 2023, following their defection from the PDP to APC on the December 11, 2023 in contravention of extant legal guidelines.

He stated: “There can’t be two Homes of Meeting in Rivers State or certainly any State in Nigeria. This Home of Meeting, with me because the Speaker, is the one Home of Meeting in Rivers State.

“As the entire world is aware of, on the eleventh day of December, 2023, Martin Amaewhule and his 24 associates defected from the Peoples Democratic Celebration to the All Progressive Congress.

“On the thirteenth Day of December, 2023, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, because the Speaker of the Rivers State Home of Meeting, declared the seats of Martin Amaewhule and 24 others within the RSHA vacant. That declaration by Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie has not been put aside by any court docket in Nigeria.”

Oko-Jumbo defined that the authentic members of the Rivers State Home of Meeting secured a restraining order towards Martin Ameawhule and the 24 others once they continued to parade themselves as members of the Rivers State Home of Meeting regardless of their defection from the PDP to the APC and their seats consequently declared vacant.

He stated that as a result of they felt dissatisfied with the rulings of the Rivers State Excessive Court docket in Go well with No. PHC/1512/CS/2024, Amaewhule and 24 others had filed an Attraction No. CA/PH/198/2024 on the Court docket of Attraction, Port Harcourt Division.
