The Kogi State Home of Meeting has resolved to increase the tenure of the Transition Committee Chairmen of native authorities areas within the State by a further six months.
The choice was made through the Home plenary session held on Friday.
The extension adopted a request from Governor Ahmed Ododo, who highlighted the state’s monetary constraints and excessive wage payments as vital boundaries to conducting native authorities elections at the moment. In his letter to the Home, Ododo emphasised that the monetary challenges necessitated the postponement of the native authorities elections.
Studying the governor’s letter, Speaker of the Home, Umar Yusuf, urged the transition chairmen to diligently serve their native authorities areas and act as exemplary leaders. “Within the subsequent six months, it will likely be fascinating on the Native Authorities stage as there can be largely submission of reviews to the Meeting. The chairmen henceforth ought to be aware of this,” Yusuf acknowledged.
LEADERSHIP remembers that the tenure of the 21 Transition Committee Chairmen was initially set to run out on July 8, 2024.
With the Home’s approval for tenure extension, their tenure of workplace has been prolonged till January 8, 2025, when native authorities elections are anticipated to be carried out within the State.
